Cruise for Gold Qualifiers—Pat and Svetlana Corrigan

Congratulations to Pat and Svetlana Corrigan from Silver Spring, Maryland, on qualifying for the Cruise for Gold trip! Here’s what they had to say about qualifying for the cruise…

"Our MonaVie story started when a friend brought what we thought was a wine bottle to Lana’s birthday party. Lana started with MonaVie Pulse and experienced benefits within months. We ordered MonaVie RVL as soon as it became available. Both of us had very good results, losing 15 pounds and 22 pounds and keeping it off for almost a year now.

"We are in our mid-40s and have two young children. We also have a history of significant health issues in our families. We want to be able to go to our kids’ weddings and spend time with our grandchildren. Staying healthy for as long as possible with MonaVie products became one of our priorities. We owe it to our children.

"After promoting MonaVie for two years, we wondered why we weren’t having great business results like so many other people. We believed in the product and the business model. We made some money, attended events, and met people who made it big in MonaVie. Listening to Randy Schroeder one day, it hit me: ‘do you believe you can do it?’ There it was! It turned out we had to work on ourselves.

"We discovered three ‘musts:’ 1. We must set a goal and a date for our goal. Otherwise, it becomes some event in the future that never comes. We had to make all our calls by December 23 (the deadline for the cruise qualification). There was no turning back or postponing. Every day, we made at least five calls and met with at least one person. 2. We must develop the knowledge of what we really want and make it so real and tangible. With the cruise as our prize, we could feel the warm sun, hear the sound of the ocean, and almost taste the salty water. 3. We must find an active upline, connect with them, and tell them our goals.

"We would not have done it without our active upline, Diamond Executives Valentina and Paul Meehan. We’d make an initial call, and they would follow up with a call or set a meeting. One day during our second week of qualification, Lana texted Valentina: ‘I am so frustrated. Made 14 calls (some were new prospects, others were follow-ups), and nobody picked up the phone or called back!’ It was a really bad day for morale. But, Valentina was able to center Lana on the activity itself—not on the immediate result.

"Qualifying for Gold Executive and the Cruise for Gold gives us a sense of accomplishment and belief in ourselves. It is also a great rehearsal for what it takes to go to the next level. We’ll see you at Diamond Destination!"

A More Meaningful Life: After 30 Years, Debbie Neeson Overcomes Agoraphobia, Obesity

Debbie Neeson doesn't remember exactly when or why it happened, but sometime during her late twenties and early thirties she began what would become a 30-year struggle with agoraphobia. For Debbie, the anxiety disorder that causes its sufferers to avoid situations where they fear they may be overcome by panic or helplessness affected every aspect of her life.

Grocery shopping had to be done seemingly by the timing of a stopwatch. If Debbie couldn't have the parking space closest to the supermarket's doors (in order to leave the store as quickly as possible), then she'd have to send her kids in to do the shopping. Just driving to the store required a herculean effort in itself, as Debbie feared something may happen on the drive; and, traveling by plane was out of the question. A night out at the movies was impossible to enjoy with Debbie sitting in the back row of the theater with car keys in hand ready to run. When her husband Mark, a Navy Reservist, would come home from sea, Debbie would purposely arrive late to pick him up just to avoid having to go inside the airport.

It wasn't just the mundane, everyday events either. Agoraphobia left its imprint on some of the most important occasions in the Neeson family's life. At a high school graduation, Debbie sat on the lawn on a hill next to the stadium's bleachers until her daughter's name was called. Then, she ran in to get a closer look before heading back to the lawn where she was closer to the exit and the car. At another daughter's graduation, she parked in a disabled parking spot and waited there until it was time to watch her child receive her diploma.

Throughout this agonizing, decades-long battle, Debbie navigated her way through a life that hurled commonplace challenges her way as well, including divorce and single motherhood before marrying Mark. Mark's job demanded that he spend two months at a time away from home working on oil tankers at sea; and, it kept him away on Navy Reserve assignments when not at sea, leaving Debbie to take sole care of their three girls.

It wasn't until two years ago through counseling that Debbie conquered her fear of taking medication to control her agoraphobia and restore some amount of normalcy to her life. But by then, the damage to her physical health had been done: high anxiety led to high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels, which in turn led to depression and a harmful relationship with food. All this inevitably resulted in demoralizing and destructive weight gain. At the age of 60, Debbie was more than 100 pounds overweight.

"Food was always a comfort, and I loved food," Debbie says. "I always told myself I didn't care about my weight and would just tune out when conversations turned to weight loss and diets. But, in reality, I was embarrassed and ashamed of myself."

The Courage to Begin
When Debbie's daughter, Ashley, introduced MonaVie to her parents, Debbie says something just "clicked." She and Mark enrolled as distributors on the spot, which is completely out of character for Debbie who is the kind of person who thoroughly investigates a situation before making any commitment. When the benefits of consuming MonaVie Pulse and MonaVie Active started to become apparent, she knew that her initial instincts were right.

Her moment of truth, both in MonaVie and in her life at that point, came when the company launched the MonaVie RVL Premier Weight Solution. Although Debbie hadn't been happy with her body for years, she wasn't so sure she had the courage or dedication to begin the process of revealing her best self just yet.

"My daughters, who were both overweight, were very excited," she recalls. "I wasn't. I didn't think I was ready to start a diet or weight-loss program. But, I knew that if I was going to be serious about doing the MonaVie business, I had to do it."

Tentatively, Debbie tested the RVL waters along with her husband and their daughters, who provided the support she needed to persist. She came to find out that the program had none of the features that she dreaded. There was no counting calories or keeping track of points. No pre-planning or preparing meals in advance. As Debbie puts it, "it was just so easy!"

A New Life. A New Routine. A New Debbie.
"I walk on the treadmill every day," Debbie says. "The treadmill is in our garage with a big-screen TV, so I can walk and watch. If I don't walk in the morning, I do it at lunch or in the evening—whenever I can work it in; but, I do it every day."

The words seem like they're coming out of another person's mouth. After years of relative immobility, Debbie can't believe how much she now loves to exercise. But, taking that first step on the treadmill took just as much courage as it did to make the decision to begin the RVL program in the first place.

"I started out walking at a snail's pace and only for 10 to 15 minutes," Debbie explains. "I was scared when starting out because of the phobia and panic attacks I had before. Gradually, I have built up to being able to walk for an hour every day at 4.4 miles per hour on a 6.0 incline."

And, of course, her diet has done a 180-degree turn for the better on the RVL program as outlined below. In addition, Debbie replaced her old stock of snacks. The candy bars and baked goods have given way to a perpetual supply of sliced bell peppers and raw broccoli in the fridge. Debbie noticed that she likes to snack when she's bored, and these tasty vegetables provide for much healthier mid-afternoon bites. Debbie also drinks half her body weight in ounces of water each day, as she finds that this really helps melt away the pounds. And, just exactly how many pounds has Debbie shed?

"I have lost 90 pounds on RVL and want to lose about 10 to 15 more," she says. "I never thought I could look like this or feel as good as I do now. I'm healthy!"

Set Me Free
For the first time in a long time, Debbie feels good. Transforming her body has changed her life in ways she never foresaw. She now enjoys playing with and chasing her two- and four-year-old granddaughters for longer stretches of time. On walks with her husband, Mark sometimes has to ask Debbie to slow down. Even the seemingly small things like no longer shopping for clothes in plus-size stores have boosted her self-esteem and self-confidence to previously unknown heights. With her new body, Debbie has ended the chapter of obesity in her past and begun to rewrite her future. She looks forward to traveling to places she's never been and helping others overcome their fears, reach their goals, and get healthy. It is her dream to help everyone feel as great as she does. That's one of the reasons why she decided to share her story now.

"I have always felt that by sharing our stories, struggles, and experiences, we can help each other with our challenges," Debbie says. "My weight loss has made me feel so good about myself; it has set me free."

The MORE Project

One of the longest lines of the event occurred Saturday morning during the MORE Project Give. MonaVie’s big-hearted distributors patiently waited for their opportunity to give back. $173,000 was raised during MonaVie 2.0 for the purpose of providing a More Meaningful Life for children and families in Brazil. What a testament to your generosity! This came after the good news that the MORE Project will begin new MORE Project initiatives in Mexico, Thailand, and India.

Special Guest Speaker Keith Ferrazzi

In addition to detailing the importance of having a “people plan,” master networker and best-selling author Keith Ferrazzi captivated the Dallas audience with his insight into people and networking. He emphasized that what distinguishes highly successful people from everyone else is the way they use the power of relationships—so that everyone wins! He also cited that the most powerful people in the world have strong relationships with other people. “We are so excited to experience new places and new things on this cruise. But, what we are most excited about is getting to enjoy it with those on our team who have worked so hard to be there. We are all excited to spend time with the leaders who will be educating us on how to be more successful in this business and in life.

“If you want to find success, you need to have all-out-massive action. Call, call, call! We do one-on-ones, three-way calls, and Skype. We also promoted the RVL specials big time and raised the excitement level in our conversations. Most of all, we acted with urgency, thought abundantly, and prayed constantly!

“We got together with the leaders of our team and looked at each person’s AutoShip. We took the best two weeks possible for each couple that would allow them to qualify for Gold. Then, on those particular weeks, we all got together and made calls, held meetings, and placed orders—whatever we could do to help that couple qualify for that week and the consecutive week. By doing that, we created six new Golds in five weeks.

“There were a lot of tears shed—first from pressure, then excitement—when we achieved the goal at the last moment. Don’t give up! We had four Golds qualify in the last 10 minutes before the deadline. This experience has been amazing! We have such a beautiful family of friends created by this MonaVie journey. I would pick each one of them to be in my life boat because I know how much they care. “Although Dewey was a total skeptic when I joined MonaVie, he always supported me in my business. Now, we are so excited to qualify for Cruise for Gold. Initially, we knew a few members of our team were very well positioned to go on the cruise, and we thought we’d focus on helping them. As the deadline got closer we said, ‘let’s go for it,’ and we knew what we had to do to make it happen; and, our team came through. With a 2- and 3-year-old only 14 months apart, life is busy. The cruise is going to be a great break for us, and the kids will have fun with their grandma while we’re away.

“It was pretty intense when we first embarked on attempting for the Cruise for Gold. Our fearless leader, Blue Diamond Joe Wack, formulated a week-by-week format to follow for the 12 weeks leading up to December 23. We worked as closely as we could with our team members who wanted to seriously try for the cruise to give them every opportunity to qualify.

“Thank goodness for our fabulous upline Sherry and Al Huva and Gina and Steve Merritt. They always seem to come and help just when we need it most. ‘Timing is everything.’ Sending Rex Crain and Matt and Kim Curtis in November, along with a little promo we ran, helped us get our team working, planning, and taking actions together. Everyone was working so well together, we kind of felt obligated to not only have our team members qualify for the cruise; we felt we had to be on the cruise, and a sudden urgency that we hadn’t experienced before took hold of us. Our good friends, Ven Cote, Dale St. Amand, and Hubert Lau (our sponsor), helped in a big way too. You’ve got to be willing to accept the help from the good people around you.

“You need to believe you can do it. Imagine you’re already there. Then, take all the actions you possibly can, supporting your team’s efforts and at the same time remaining focused on your own stepping stones, milestones, and targets.

“In 2012, we’ve instituted ‘The Power of 2’ as our team’s theme. By helping everyone on our team go Star and everyone on their teams go Star, and by becoming consistent Star makers, we expect to have several of our team on the next cruise!

“It’s always been a dream to go to the Bahamas, but we’ve always traveled for more practical reasons (e.g., for business or to visit family). On this trip we get to do some business, learn from the best in this industry, and enjoy and get to know our MonaVie family a little better. We can’t wait!”
