MonaVie Cannondale’s Sue Butler Wins Cross Crusade No. 6

[Astoria, Ore.] – November 1, 2009 – MonaVie Cannondale cyclist Sue Butler got her first series win of the season at the costume race at Cross Crusade No. 6 on Sunday, November 1, in Astoria, Oregon.

Butler, who is preparing to travel to France for the World Cup, gained an early advantage in the first lap of the race and held onto a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

"I felt pretty good out there," Butler said. "I was able to keep it under control. It was good to be in front of the home crowd."

Utah Governor Honors MonaVie at Utah 100 Awards

In a special awards ceremony held at the Grand America Hotel on October 23, 2009, the MountainWest Capital Network announced its annual Utah 100 ranking of the fastest-growing companies in Utah. MonaVie Founders Dallin A. Larsen and Randy Larsen were honored with a crystal trophy on behalf of MonaVie, as the No. 1 fastest-growing company on the Utah 100 list and No. 3 in highest revenue growth in dollar terms.

"You're the ones that are the engine driving the economy," Utah Governor Gary Herbert told representatives from Utah's top entrepreneurial companies. The annual program recognizes the 100 fastest growing Utah companies, the 15 Top Revenue Growth companies, and 12 Emerging Elite companies.

In an exclusive interview in the November Utah 100 edition of Utah CEO magazine, Dallin says that direct selling is coming of age. Pointing to Warren Buffet's purchase of The Pampered Chef a few years ago Dallin said, "That was a turning point in direct selling. A lot of naysayers looked at that and said, 'Wow, if perhaps the savviest investor in the world wants to invest in a direct selling company, then maybe there's more to this as a business model.'"

Unauthorized Asia Activity: A Reminder Regarding Pre-Market Policies

On September 24, 2009, MonaVie sent a communication to all MonaVie Ruby Executives and above reminding them of our policies regarding pre-market activity, with special emphasis given to several of our Asian markets.

As our business strategies develop, it has become much more evident to us how critical a role such compliance plays in protecting the enormous business opportunities in this region of the world. With that, MonaVie desires to restate its position to vigorously enforce its existing pre-market policies and procedures and eliminate any tolerance for unapproved pre-market activity that may put this opportunity for all at significant risk.

Therefore, as a follow up to previous communications regarding MonaVie's international expansion efforts and its policies governing distributor pre-market activities, we encourage all distributors to give careful attention to the following:

1.    By contract, distributors of MonaVie are not allowed to conduct any pre-market activity in any market that does not appear in the list of authorized countries appearing in the MonaVie Virtual Office ("Enroll a Distributor" page). Such activities would include the importation and distribution of non-registered product, the false enrollment of distributors, meetings, opening of sales offices, etc.

2.      While MonaVie has expressed an intent to open certain markets, under no circumstances are distributors to engage in the activities listed above in Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, The People's Republic of China (PRC), or in any other country which does not appear in the Virtual Office drop down window. The countries in the drop down menu represent the only authorized and acceptable markets for conducting business.

Protecting Distributors and Future Business Opportunities
From time to time, MonaVie becomes aware of distributors who, in an effort to get a head start, bypass the established policies and procedures and as a result put the company and our future growth opportunities at risk. Such is currently the case in several markets MonaVie intends to establish future business opportunities.

In order to protect our loyal distributors who adhere to the policies, MonaVie will have no choice but to severely discipline—up to and including termination—those found in violation of such policies.

Unauthorized Activity in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan
Currently, non-authorized enrollments are occurring in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Please note that MonaVie will not honor such distributorships when the company is officially introduced in these two markets. All such distributors will be required to start over, reenroll, or even be barred from enrollment in that country as a distributor of MonaVie. Thus, they will have no advantage over other distributors.

In addition, distributors who are found owning/sponsoring a MonaVie store or found importing non-registered product or found conducting unauthorized open/public meetings (more than 4-5 people) in these markets will be disciplined, up to and including termination of their distributorship. MonaVie will not tolerate such abuse of its policies to which each distributor has agreed to keep and follow.

Today, we are putting such distributorships on notice. We will not permit such distributorships to jeopardize the opportunity for the many who are operating with integrity, nor will we permit a few distributors to jeopardize the international opportunity that awaits those who are willing to keep our policies and procedures.

Stay Committed; New Opportunities Await
Truly, the MonaVie opportunity could not be brighter or more exciting!  The opportunities ahead of us are enormous. Nonetheless, each distributorship must operate with appropriate constraint and patience, and trust that MonaVie is applying every resource to ensure a successful and timely opening of each new market.

Once again, we thank each of you in advance for all you do, for all you will do, and what you will encourage others to do to ensure the long-term success of these future business opportunities for all distributors. Congratulations to MonaVie Distributors and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim!


Congratulations to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on an amazing 2009 season, in which the team advanced to the American League Championship Series. MonaVie EMV is the official healthy energy drink of this Major League Baseball team.

MonaVie also congratulates Bronze Executive Peggy Mayo who won an Angels Premium Suite eBay auction, with all proceeds going to The MORE Project. Peggy and her family enjoyed a regular season game from the MonaVie suite.

Founder and Vice Chairman Henry Marsh joined Darrell and Tracy Utterbach as well as their friends and family for their day at Angel Stadium. Darrell and Tracy also won an Angels Premium Suite eBay auction. MonaVie and The MORE Project wish to thank Peggy and the Utterbachs for their generosity and giving hearts.

Nearly 400,000 distributors/visitors watched our first-ever Asia Pacific Conference online or in person as we launched MonaVie Pulse and MonaVie Active Gel into Australia and New Zealand, introduced our new regional director of Southeast Asia, and presented a US$100,000 check to the first Royal Black Diamond Executives in Japan.

MonaVie Continues to Set New Standards

Distributors and guests gave Founder, Chairman, and CEO Dallin A. Larsen a standing ovation when he took the stage at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Sydney, Australia, on October 10, 2009.


Dallin started the meeting by showing distributors how MonaVie continues to set new standards in the industry. In the September 2009 issue of the Direct Selling News, MonaVie was ranked No. 13 in total revenue among 68 direct selling companies. The 12 companies ranked ahead of MonaVie were established between 25 and 125 years ago. Dallin reminded distributors that MonaVie's success has come in less than five years.

While the recognition provides distributors with evidence of MonaVie's prominence, Dallin has since put the awards aside. MonaVie is now looking forward to the future and looking forward to setting new standards by becoming successful in every market around the world and by continuing to improve the lives of children and families in the slums of Brazil.

New Product Launched, New Products Coming to Asia Markets

Vice President of Product Management Jeff Graham announced the launch of MonaVie Pulse and MonaVie Active Gel into Australia and New Zealand at the Asia Pacific Conference.

MonaVie Pulse and MonaVie Active Gel are a welcomed addition to the line of products available to distributors in both markets. Jeff also announced that MonaVie is working on plans to launch MonaVie Pulse into Japan and Singapore, and bring MonaVie EMV to the Asia Pacific region.

The MORE Project: VIP Amazon Expedition


MonaVie showed a moving video presentation of the first annual MORE Project VIP Amazon Expedition in Brazil. During the expedition, some of MonaVie's top field leaders explored the northern regions of Brazil and met the locals whose lives have changed since they began to harvest acai for MonaVie. More importantly, the group visited The MORE Project in Niteroi, just outside of Rio de Janeiro, where they served families and raised enough money to build three new homes.

Black Diamond Executive Anthony Wolfenden from Australia went on the expedition and said that in order to be successful in life and in business you have to give back.

"At MonaVie we are all about changing people's lives one person at a time," Anthony said. "Through your business you can help people that you know and meet on a daily basis. Through The MORE Project you can help countless others you don't know."

By the end of the Asia Pacific Conference, distributors donated more than US$20,000 to The MORE Project, enough to build more new homes for struggling families in Brazil.

Setting Productivity Standards with Specific Activities


International Distributor Ambassador Randy Schroeder believes greatly in The MORE Project and contributed greatly to the building of the Nehemiah House for a struggling family in Brazil.

When Randy took the stage in Sydney, he encouraged distributors to set weekly goals that will help them to build a strong organization.

"That which is measured can be improved," Randy said. "If it is not measured there is no improvement."

Randy went on to outline three goals that helped him to reach Black Diamond Executive status in less than a year. Those weekly goals included:

  • Earn a First Order Bonus
  • Earn a Star Maker Bonus
  • Qualify at rank

It's not enough to set specific targets, Randy added. Distributors must also make specific plans to obtain those targets. Those specific plans must be centered on the following revenue producing activities:

  • Identify potential candidates
  • Learn to invite
  • Perfect the method of inviting through rehearsals
  • Conduct home business reviews or tasting parties
  • Hold orientation meetings to help new distributors place an initial order and establish an AutoShip.

Lastly, Randy explained that it is not enough to be concerned with what we do, but we also must be concerned about what we become. True success is achieved by developing new skills, building strong characteristic traits, and learning from leaders.

New Regional Director for Southeast Asia

Dallin introduced David McManus as MonaVie's first regional director of Southeast Asia. From Australia, David has 15 years of experience in the direct selling industry, most of which have come at the executive level.

David's responsibilities will include helping General Manager Leo Talbot in Australia and New Zealand, and he will help with operations in Singapore, and the development of Malaysia.

David shared with distributors his excitement to work and help MonaVie reach its goal of becoming a US$20 billion company.

Shiro Ozono: Japan's Second Black Diamond Executive

MonaVie recognized hundreds of distributor leaders at the conference who are helping MonaVie achieve that goal, including Shiro Ozono. The newest Black Diamond Executive in Japan, Shiro received his Black Diamond pin and ring from Dallin following the presentation of his documentary.

Shiro expressed gratitude to the MonaVie Executive Team, his organization, and especially to the hundreds of Japanese distributors who traveled to the conference despite a major typhoon that struck Japan two days earlier. Shiro also encouraged everyone to do what they can to make it to the MonaVie International Convention in 2010.

New Royal Black Diamond: Kyoko Akiyama

In less than a year, Kyoko Akiyama has quickly climbed the ranks to become the first Royal Black Diamond in Japan. Dallin presented her with US$100,000 check.

Kyoko declared her commitment to stay in MonaVie for life and to spread the word of MonaVie throughout the world, "We can work together to achieve success here in Asia and then spread that success to the rest of the world."

Merritts Motivate the Crowd

Crowne Black Diamond Executives Steve and Gina Merritt are certainly traveling the world to share the excitement of MonaVie.

In their own style, Steve and Gina told distributors to simplify their business by not getting caught up in all the details. The best way to success is to remain focused on helping others and allowing the products, with its great benefits, to speak for themselves.

While MonaVie continues to diligently work toward bringing the full lineup of products to international markets, the Merritts reminded distributors at the Asia Pacific Conference that they achieved the rank of Black Diamond Executive by distributing a single bottle of juice.

Dallin closed the meeting by expressing the company's commitment to continue to do the right things for the right reason. Much like Erik Weihenmayer, who became the only blind man in history to reach the world's highest peak—Mount Everest—MonaVie will continue to set goals to achieve what no other direct selling company has before and to become a US$20 billion company by 2020.

Yona Fichman Named Regional Managing Director of Eastern Europe and Israel

Yona Fichman - MonaVie Israel and Eastern Europe
On behalf of our Executive Team at MonaVie, we are pleased to welcome Yona Fichman as regional managing director of Eastern Europe and Israel. In his new role, Yona will oversee the development of MonaVie Israel and other international markets in the region.

For more than 15 years, Yona has played an important role at the executive and management level in the direct sales industry in Israel and the surrounding areas. His background includes serving as a regional vice president at a major network marketing company, where he oversaw markets in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Africa. In five years at this position, Yona spearheaded the opening of numerous markets. Yona also served as chairman of the Israeli Direct Selling Association for 10 years (1997–2007).

With his proven experience in setting up and running direct selling business in Eastern Europe, Yona is a welcome addition to the MonaVie team and staff already in place in Israel.
