New Study Gives Insight into Açai*

In a recent preclinical study, açai was shown to have significant health-promoting properties. Açai was one of seven berries that demonstrated an ability to maintain healthy proliferation of esophageal cells and were associated with increased antioxidant capacity in rats. Açai was also one of two berries that significantly influenced levels of a cytokine involved in the immune response. These health-promoting properties were linked to açai's content of proanthocyanidins and anthocyanins, two nutrients found in fruits and vegetables.

Brazil Super Regional Recap

More than 1,000 distributors and guests gathered in Sao Paulo for the Brazil Super Regional on Saturday, March 20, 2010. The audience's energy, along with the presence of several Black Diamond Executives fresh off a VIP MORE Project Expedition, made for one of the best events in MonaVie Brazil history.

New MonaVie Brazil Office Opening
Nearly 100 distributor leaders celebrated the official inauguration of the new MonaVie Brazil Office in Moema the day before the event on Friday, March 19, 2010. The excitement carried over into the Super Regional as MonaVie Brazil's General Manager Mauricio Patrocinio and Director of Marketing Eduardo Frayha kicked off the event by retelling the story of MonaVie.

The story of MonaVie begins with the Brazilian aç berry, which grows atop the Amazon Rainforest's tallest tree—the açai palm. Since 2005, the aç berry along with a blend of 18 other nutritious fruits have become an international phenomenon, spreading to now 14 international markets in the form of a MonaVie bottle. With this bottle comes a story that is focused on changing the lives of many people for the better.

The Evolution of MonaVie
MonaVie Founder, Chairman, and CEO Dallin A. Larsen followed Mauricio and Eduardo's presentation by showing the evolution of MonaVie. Starting off small, MonaVie quickly became a billion-dollar company in just three years. MonaVie's meteoric rise has been well documented in the direct selling industry and has led to several recognitions, including:

Inc. 500: No. 1 in the Food & Beverage category
Utah Business magazine and MountainWest Capital Network: No. 1 fastest-growing company in Utah.
• Ernst & Young: Dallin named 2009 national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® in the Emerging category

Dallin also explained how the MonaVie Five Star Opportunity (right product, right time, right management, right compensation plan, and the right cause) is one of the reasons MonaVie is built to last. However, the most important asset of the company is not found in a large building or a great product; the greatest asset MonaVie has is its distributors who are willing to share our premier products and rewarding business opportunity with others.

International Business Building Tools
As one of the most anticipated speakers of the day, International Distributor Ambassador Randy Schroeder demonstrated how to properly share our unique opportunity with others. Using volunteers from the crowd, Randy showed how to invite someone to attend a home business review or tasting party. He also explained how to use the MonaVie International Business Building Kit and stated the importance of never separating the audio CD from the Staying Started Manual or the Getting Started Workbook.

"Let the tool speak for you," Randy explained. "If you do this process exactly how I am teaching, you will be successful."

International Vision
MonaVie Chief Financial Officer Devin Thorpe surprised the audience by giving his entire presentation in Portuguese. Devin talked about MonaVie's financial strength and how the company is set to achieve future success. Devin also informed distributors on how to take advantage of the new Top Retailer's Bonus and how distributors can leverage the Preferred Customer program.

Gavon Barkdull, regional director of the Americas, spoke in Portuguese as well. He expressed his love for Brazil and the commitment of the MonaVie Brazil staff to constantly improve the business for distributors.

Black Diamonds and The MORE Project
Days before the Brazil Super Regional, several MonaVie Black Diamond Executives participated in the VIP MORE Project Expedition. Their presence added extra excitement to the event, and some of them shared their expedition experiences of being able to give back to The MORE Project. The Black Diamonds in attendance included Orrin and Laurie Woodward; Sue and Scott Olsen; Onyx Coale; Todd and Angelique Hartog; Tim and Amy Marks; Ron and Brenda Prudhomme; Rob and Lisa Alwin; Grayson Maule; and Mark and Jill Ewell.

The story of MonaVie always comes back to Brazil with The MORE Project. The non-profit organization is a way that MonaVie gives back to the country that has given us so much in the aç berry. Sergio Ponce, director of The MORE Project, told everyone at the Super Regional how MonaVie is helping the children in mountainous slums outside of Rio de Janeiro. Not only are new homes being developed and built for families, but approximately 2,300 people are helped everyday through The MORE Project.

MVU Tip of the Week

Webinars, Screencasts, and Weimaraners
If you want to learn about weimaraners, you might get stymied. Perhaps you'll bring up the topic to a friend, but most likely you won't get passed the word "weimaraner." You explain what you're talking about, and maybe they suggest you take a webinar on the subject. Now you have no idea what they're talking about.

What is a webinar?
A webinar is a seminar transmitted over the World Wide Web. Most webinars are interactive, but some aren't. For example, a screencast is a recording of anything you can see happening on a computer screen, such as the Virtual Office.

Nowadays, everyone is using webinars to provide instruction, including MonaVie University where there are plenty of great MonaVie webinars to choose from. Check them out by visiting www.monavieuniversity.com. Have fun learning!

(By the way, a weimaraner is a type of dog. Sorry, canine enthusiasts: webinars about weimaraners are nowhere to be found on MonaVie University just yet.)

MonaVie Matches Alyssa Milano’s Haiti Tweet Challenge

[Direct Selling News] – March 2010 – Disaster struck on the evening of January 12, 2010, when an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 wreaked havoc on Haiti. In the article, “Answering the Call,” Direct Selling News reports on the efforts of direct selling companies around the world, as they answered “the poverty-stricken country’s pleas for help.”

MonaVie, inspired by Alyssa Milano’s UNICEF Haiti Tweet Challenge to match her US$50,000 donation to the Haiti Relief Fund, extended a call to its distributors to help double the amount by January 29. By January 28, MonaVie and its distributors had already reached the US$100,000 goal.

Certification Instills Confidence
When it comes to something as important as your health, most people would agree that receiving care from a certified physician sure beats receiving care from one who is not certified. Certification instills confidence.

That’s why MonaVie University provides training courses that allow you to earn certification. In fact, the completion of some courses is required in order to build a MonaVie business in certain markets. All of these courses are rich in multimedia content and require you to log in using the same distributor ID and password you use to access your Virtual Office. Want to bump up your credibility? Look for certification courses on www.monavieuniversity.com.

Glycemic Index Study Shows that MonaVie EMV is a Sustained Source of Energy

A study completed in July 2009 by Glycemic Index Laboratories indicates that MonaVie EMV has a low glycemic index (GI) and a prolonged energy effect, further validating the benefits of EMV as a quick and sustained source of energy.

The GI, which ranks foods on how they affect our blood glucose levels, is most useful when deciding which carbohydrate foods to eat because not all carbohydrates act the same. Carbohydrates that have a high GI are quickly broken down, causing blood glucose levels to rise rapidly. Consuming foods with a high GI causes a large and rapid glycemic response. You may feel an initial elevation in energy and mood as your blood sugar rises, but this is generally followed by a cycle of increased lethargy and hunger.

Carbohydrates that have a low GI (like those found in MonaVie EMV) break down more slowly, releasing glucose gradually into the blood stream. Compared to a high fructose corn syrup solution, MonaVie EMV caused a smaller and slower rise in blood glucose levels and then maintained increased levels of blood glucose for a longer period of time. The absence of a sharp rise and fall in blood glucose and the maintenance of higher levels for longer periods of time led to longer lasting energy.

2010 Indianapolis Regional Meeting Recap

Energy levels rose to meteoric heights at the Indianapolis Convention Center on Saturday, March 13. Perhaps that had something to do with the high-demand samples of upcoming MonaVie EMV Lite offered at the regional meeting. But, it was also due to the messages of hope, belief, and success that were delivered by MonaVie corporate executives and distributors leaders from near and far.

MonaVie Founder and Vice Chairman Henry Marsh led the meeting and asked distributors to share their life experiences that have left imprints of success on their minds. "When you surround yourself with great people, you feel the imprints of success," Henry said.

MonaVie EMV Driver Tomas Scheckter Makes Surprise Visit
One of the many great people within the MonaVie family is IndyCar Series driver Tomas Scheckter, who made a surprise appearance to announce that he will once again drive the MonaVie EMV car at this year's Indianapolis 500 on May 30.

Tomas also imparted how he's been imprinted with an attitude of success in his life. He said that his father—a former world champion Formula 1 driver—instilled in him the will to succeed at early an age. He's always believed that he could achieve his goals on the racetrack, and he is excited to go after one of those goals in May.

"I've won a lot of laps at the Indy 500," Tomas said. "But, I've yet to win the entire race, so hopefully I can do it this year in the MonaVie car."

A Culture of Abundant Giving
Attendees in Indianapolis wholeheartedly grasped onto the concept of drawing upon their imprints of success as they shared their personal stories, including a Ruby Executive named Mark. Mark described how seeing his father become heavily involved in charity work after recovering from a stroke motivated him to find ways to give back to his community through his own charitable efforts.

"So many of us take so much for granted because we figure we're doing okay," Mark said. "Well, there are a lot of people who aren't doing okay, and they're relying on our abundance to help them out."

The MORE Project's Sponsor a Child Program
Cultivating a culture of abundant serving and giving has been a core value in MonaVie from the very beginning. One of the ways this is evident is through The MORE Project.

Andrea Barnes, the Director of Giving Programs for The MORE Project, was in Indianapolis to invite distributors to care for the destitute children in Brazil by getting involved in the Sponsor a Child program.

Through the Sponsor a Child program, you have the privilege of personally changing a life through direct correspondence with a child at The MORE Project. You will experience the joy of doing more than merely making cash donations; you'll have the opportunity to develop a special relationship with the child you serve by getting to know who he or she really is, and then meet one another on a MORE Project expedition.

Visit www.themoreproject.org to download a Sponsor a Child registration form today.

Wellmune®—A Natural Product that Enhances Immune Function
One of the major announcements revealed in Indianapolis is the fact that a portion of every dollar spent on MonaVie products and apparel goes to The MORE Project. That's especially great news, as sales continue to soar with the addition of MonaVie (M)mūn to our family of products. Speaking of MonaVie's newest product, Dr. Paul Clayton returned to the regional meeting stage to speak about MonaVie (M)mūn's main ingredient, Wellmune?, as it relates to overall healthy living.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. Clayton said that most Americans are unable to eat the recommended daily portions of fruits and vegetables. This is why products like MonaVie that concentrate nutrition into easily consumable forms are so important to leading healthy lives.

Building the MonaVie Brand One Person at a Time
Vice President of Marketing Wayne Moorehead spoke about how in just five years MonaVie has become a global brand, with the MonaVie name and logo being found in numerous magazines and television shows worldwide, as well as through sales tools found at MonaVie Mall.

Explaining that a brand is more than just a logo or a slogan, Wayne said that the power of a brand is found in what we think and how we feel about a product or company. "It's built through all the different experiences we have with a product or company, and I can't think of a more incredible brand than MonaVie," he said.

One way we're all helping to build the MonaVie brand is through social networking. In recent months, MonaVie has been at the forefront of the social networking world through our Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as Blog MV. As more and more people stay plugged into MonaVie through these channels every day, the MonaVie brand continues to be strengthened and exposed to millions globally.

"By sharing MonaVie one person at a time, you're getting MonaVie into the hands of some incredible people; and, the word is definitely getting out," Wayne said.

A Formula for Success
MonaVie's International Distributor Ambassador Randy Schroeder also taught distributors how to get the word out about MonaVie when he described a formula that he believes will result in success when applied to any MonaVie business.

The first factor in the formula is a highly developed set of skills within the context of your own personality. The second factor is a highly developed/developing character. These two things combined with proper daily activities, the MonaVie opportunity, and time will result in building a successful MonaVie business.

"Here's what I've observed over 20 years in the business," Randy said. "If you want to build a successful business, then reach up, reach laterally, and reach down to help others achieve success."

The next corporate-sponsored MonaVie event in the United States will be in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the MonaVie International Convention, June 24–26, 2010. Stay tuned to www.monaviemediacenter.com for updates and registration information.
