A More Meaningful Life: Maria Dyment Makes a RVLutionary Return to Her Glory Days

During the 1980s, Maria Dyment entered the world of competitive bodybuilding with significant regional success: Miss Fraser Valley 1981, 2nd Place Miss Okanogan 1985, 2nd Place Miss British Columbia 1986. When Maria qualified for the Canadian Championships in 1986, she faced a hard and career-altering reality.

"I was made aware that if I wanted to compete at the national level, I would most likely have to get on steroids," Maria says.

A strong believer in natural bodybuilding and unwilling to go down a path of moral compromise, it didn't take Maria very long to make a tough life decision. She retired from competitive bodybuilding in 1986.

Fast forward 25 years—and 60 pounds—into the future, Maria found herself yearning for the weight room and the stage of competition once again. Even during her retirement, her fascination with fitness and the way individuals can change their body composition through nutrition and exercise never died. And, when the Gold Executive lost 50 pounds on the MonaVie RVL program, it was like adding fuel to the flickering embers of a competitive fire within clinging to its last flares of life.

"I got the itch at 50 years old to compete again," Maria says. "I am very competitive and love to work hard, and I know that I can be a successful natural bodybuilder with MonaVie products."

Maria dropped the weight, hit the gym, and set a goal to qualify for the 2012 British Columbia Championships in Kelowna. In order to do that, she will first have to place in the top three in her division at the Sandra Wickham Fall Classic 2011 on November 12, 2011. With MonaVie RVL in her corner, Maria—or, "Mighty Maria," as Black Diamond Executive Jan Prpich calls her—has no doubts she will accomplish her goal.

The Sandra Wickham Fall Classic is only the first step on Maria's road to championship glory—a road that she's determined to end at the World Natural Bodybuilding Championships.
