Dr. Shawn Talbott
ExpandChief Science Officer Dr. Shawn Talbott leads MonaVie’s global product strategy and product development efforts. He has a consistent track record of creating leading nutrition products and new platforms that help people feel better, look better, and perform better. Dr. Talbott joined the MonaVie family in January 2012 as Vice President of Research and Product Development. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing and overseeing the creation of new products and MonaVie’s research efforts to provide credible, third-party validation of MonaVie products. Dr. Talbott is trained in Sports Medicine (BS - Marietta), Fitness Management (BA - Marietta), Exercise Science (MS - Massachusetts), Nutritional Biochemistry (PhD - Rutgers), and Entrepreneurship (EMP - MIT). He has served as a nutrition consultant and educator for elite-level athletes in a variety of sports including professional triathletes, NBA basketball, US Ski Team, US Track & Field, and the US Olympic Training Centers. Dr. Talbott is the past Director of the University of Utah Nutrition Clinic and taught as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Nutrition, where he received the Outstanding Instructor Award. He is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (ACN), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the American Institute of Stress (AIS). Dr. Talbott has proven to be a great advocate for developing high quality health products that make a measurable difference in people’s lives.

Dr. Bernie Landes
ExpandSince he began his career in the nutrition industry in 1977, Bernie Landes has been at the forefront of virtually every major trend in the natural food and nutritional supplement field. Serving in several Director and General Manager capacities for a number of companies, he helped propel some of the most successful natural foods brands and dietary supplement products in history.
Mr. Landes served as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the National Nutritional Foods Association during the period of formulation, debate, and passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. He also worked closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the development of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 and testified before Congress on the future of Organic foods.
Mr. Landes currently serves as President of Nutritional Products Consulting Group, providing a full range of consulting support for clients, including scientific, regulatory, commercialization, and M&A. He received his B.S. in Business Administration and M.B.A. in Marketing/Consumer Psychology from the University of Delaware.

Dr. Stephen T. Talcott
ExpandDr. Stephen T. Talcott, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Texas A&M University. Previously he was an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry at the University of Florida (Food Science and Human Nutrition Department). He received his PhD in Food Science and Technology from the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Talcott is a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologists and is active in the researching, processing, and promoting of fruits and vegetables with bioactive components. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Talcott served as Supervisor of Chemistry at Silliker Laboratories of Texas.
A leading expert on the acai berry, Dr. Talcott has been recognized for his significant contributions in expanding the understanding of the phytochemistry, stability, health benefits, and marketability of acai since 2002. He has published numerous articles on acai as well as over 55 peer-reviewed articles in top level food chemistry journals, over 50 technical abstracts, and six book chapters. Dr. Talcott also specializes in the stability and changes that take place in antioxidant compounds during post-harvest handling, food processing, and storage.

Dr. Penny Kris-Etherton
ExpandDr. Penny Kris-Etherton, PhD, RD, has been on the faculty at Pennsylvania State University since 1979, and has been a Distinguished Professor of Nutrition at Pennsylvania State University since 1996. She is currently a member of The American Dietetic Association, the American Society for Nutrition, the American Society for Clinical Nutrition, the Society for Nutrition Education, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, and various American Heart Association Councils, including the AHA Nutrition Committee. In addition, she is on the Board of Women Heart and the National Lipid Association, and serves as President of Shaping America's Health and the Northeast Lipid Association.
Dr. Kris-Etherton has served on many prestigious national committees and review panels including the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee, the National Academy of Sciences Panel on Macronutrients, the American Heart Association Nutrition Committee, NIH's Nutrition Study Section, the National Cholesterol Education Program Second Adult Treatment Panel, the ASCN/AIN Task Force on Trans Fatty Acids, and WomenHeart. She has held numerous editorial board appointments, including journals such as The Journal of Clinical Lipidology, Lipids, Current Atherosclerosis Reports, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Journal of Nutrition Education, and International Journal of Sports Nutrition.
Dr. Kris-Etherton has published over 200 scientific papers, 25 book chapters, and co-authored four books. She is the recipient of the Lederle Award for Human Nutrition Research awarded in 1991 by the American Society for Nutritional Sciences. In 1998 she was selected for the Foundation Award for Excellence in Research by the American Dietetic Association and became a Fellow in the American Heart Association in 2001. In 2005, she received the Elaine Monsen Research Award from the American Dietetic Association Foundation. In 2007, she received the Marjorie Hulsizer Copher award-the highest award bestowed by the American Dietetic Association-for her contributions to the dietetic profession.

Dr. Danyi Quan
ExpandDr. Danyi Quan is the Chief Scientific Officer of Xel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Quan received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceuticals at Hoshi University, Tokyo, Japan, and did her post-doctoral research work at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, Dr. Howard Maibach’s laboratory.
Dr. Quan is a leading expert in advanced drug delivery systems, including transdermal drug delivery, topical drug delivery, fast-dissolving drug delivery, and controlled-release drug delivery. Also, Dr. Quan is actively involved in research and product development of Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCMs) by combining advanced drug delivery technologies and the TCM Ying-Yang concept to nutraceutical and cosmeceutical products. At Xel, Dr. Quan and her team invented the cold water cell-broken extraction technologies, finer-print chromatogram quality control methods and nano technologies for nutritional ingredients, and developed dozens of innovative nutritional and cosmeceutical products.
Dr. Quan has published over 25 scientific papers in top level pharmaceutical and medical journals, over 25 technical abstracts, and two book chapters. Dr. Quan also holds more than 15 U.S. and international patents. Currently, Dr. Quan is the adjunct professor for University of the Pacific, California; School of Pharmacy, University of North Dakota.

Dr. Paul Clayton
ExpandDr. Paul Clayton graduated summa cum laude in Medical Pharmacology from Edinburgh University prior to obtaining his PhD. Dr. Clayton has consulted widely in the pharmaceutical, food and supplement industries. He is a member of international research teams working in Britain, America, India, Hungary, Sweden and Saudi Arabia. His books include Health Defence, After Atkins, Natural Defence and the HD Cook Book.
Dr. Clayton has held a variety of posts and positions, including: Senior Advisor to the Committee on Safety of Medicines (UK); FRSA and Visiting Fellow at Oxford Brookes University; and Chair of the Forum on Food & Health at the Royal Society of Medicine. He currently chairs the Scientific Advisory Boards of BiotheraPharma (USA) and Itogha (Norway); is a Fellow of the Institute of Natural Immune Health (Osaka) and the Széchenyi Institute (Budapest); and consults with the Institute of Food, Brain and Behaviour (Oxford).
