Antioxidants Related to Heart Health
A recent study published this month in the American Journal of Medicine (Oct 2012) found a strong relationship between antioxidants in the diet and risk for heart attack. The Researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden found that women who had the highest levels of “total antioxidant capacity” from fruits, vegetables, coffee, and whole grains also had the lowest risk for heart attack over a 10-year period (approximately a 20% reduction compared to women with lower antioxidant intake).

Why do you want to measure antioxidants?
One of the problems with antioxidants is that we can’t really “feel” them working in our bodies. We don’t wake up in the morning and say, “Wow, my antioxidant levels feel great today!” We often can’t “feel” the balance between damaging free radicals and protective antioxidants until there is enough free radical damage to result in a health problem. Before VIEW, people had to take their antioxidant supplements “on faith” – hoping and praying that they were working, but never really knowing if those nutrients were actually getting into their body and doing any good.
