Lily Anderson Update - She's Home!

DallinKarreeLily

Per Lily's Carepages.com site, written by her mother Jennifer Anderson:

Hello everyone....I know it has been a LONG time since I have had time to update but the best thing I can tell you is that WE ARE HOME!!!! We were discharged from St. Jude on Friday and we packed up and hit the road. It took what felt like forever, but just walking into our home felt like I was in heaven. Joey and Audrey were so excited to see us.

Lily is doing better. She was told by the docs in Memphis that she REALLY needs to drink as much as she can so that her kidney is flushing. (If you see her hand her some water and tell her to take a few sips :) She is having a hard time finding anything that tastes good or that has taste. The drugs messed up her taste buds so nothing tastes good to her. We are trying to get back into a routine, but just yesterday we were at CHOA and they told us that we will be starting radiation and anti-body therapy right away. UGH NO BREAKS... They told us her counts were recovering nicely, and that see looked good. She did get sinusitis while in Memphis, so she is now fighting a constant runny nose. The doctors told us it is very common and she will probably have a running nose until after her treatments.

Her hair should start to grow back now, so she is looking forward to that.

I want to thank you all so much for all of your gifts, messages, texts, and most importantly the prayers for our family. We were so glad to walk into church on Sunday morning and see so many smiling faces.

I really had no time to update this past week so sorry........The last few days in Memphis were non-eventful.

We hung out and just waited for the doctors to tell us we could go home.

One day we did find a Vera Bradley Store in Germantown TN. Lily was in HEAVEN!!! She absolutely loves Vera Bradley stuff. Anyway, I was in there talking to the manager, and I told her that I thought Vera Bradley should make bandanas for kids with cancer. She smiled and said "What about a napkin?" I took the napkin folded it and tied it on Lily's pretty little head, and BAM!!! A new trend was set! It was the cutest thing I had ever seen. Vera Bradley has the most incredible patterns so if you know a child with cancer that needs a gift, go pick up a Vera Bradley napkins for them!

Love to you all, Jen
