Get Your Google+ Going
Ah, Google, you rock star search engine with the elusive algorithm that can make or break a company’s online reputation again and again. I see you doing cool things.
I’m a total fan of your work, from Google Maps (who knew seeing a 360-degree street-level image of my residence would be like Christmas in July?), to Google Translate – with your help I am now multilingual, or “fjöltyng” in Icelandic.
Google Calendar is no doubt every college student’s best friend with your pretty color systems and event-sharing capabilities. Oh, and the part of it being free is a perk, too.
Gmail chatting is my favorite way to conversate online.
And of course, Google Reader is the best way I’ve found to keep up on all my favorite sites.
So, when you decided to fully embrace the social networking world I couldn’t help but pay attention.
Enter stage right: Google+
Google+ aims to make sharing on the web more like sharing in real life.
Just like with the introduction of social media way back when, it’s important for entrepreneurs like you to at least know what it is and how it works. According to experts, it will save you time and, unlike Facebook and Linked in, it is indexed by Google (duh) which has an impact on search engine optimization (online visibility), which in the wide world of online stuffage, is kind of a big deal.
Plus you get Circles and Hangouts and Sparks and Huddles and Streams, which just sound super cool. Google says this is the just the first phase of the Google+ project. The easiest way to learn about all the features is to take a tour.
